Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University has reached a significant new milestone. With its recent accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the school now belongs to the exclusive group of just one per cent of business schools worldwide holding the prestigious Triple Crown status.
This recognition means that JIBS is now accredited by all three leading international bodies: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. In Sweden, only two other institutions— Lund University School of Economics and Management and the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg — share this distinction. Once again, JIBS demonstrates its ability to stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the world’s best business schools.
"Triple Crown recognition is more than just a title — it’s proof of our long-term commitment to world-class education, cutting-edge research, and impactful business collaboration. We are proud, grateful, and more motivated than ever to keep moving forward," says Martin Wallin, Dean and Managing Director at JIBS.
About AMBA
The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is one of the world's leading accreditation bodies for business education. It focuses exclusively on MBA, DBA, and Master’s in Management (MBM) programmes, placing strong emphasis on employability, leadership, and innovation.
Institutions undergo a comprehensive re-accreditation process every five years to ensure continuous development and maintained excellence.
Strong focus on innovation and quality
The AMBA accreditation is awarded to JIBS Engineering Management programme, a specialised master’s programme designed for engineers aspiring to take on leadership roles in industry. By adding business and management knowledge to their existing expertise, it prepares graduates for positions in leadership, project management, and consultancy.
To receive AMBA accreditation, a programme must meet the highest standards in teaching, curriculum design, career development, and engagement with students, alumni, and employers. In their assessment, AMBA’s international panel particularly highlighted the international diversity among faculty and students, the inclusive learning environment, the emphasis on developing managerial and leadership skills, and the strong industry connections that support the Engineering Management programme.
“This award is a testament to my colleagues’ dedication to high-quality education. At the same time, the strong support from the local business community for JIBS and the programme demonstrates that what we offer is both in demand and relevant in an ever-changing global landscape,” says Ulf Larson-Olaison, Programme Director for Engineering Management.
Why Triple Crown accreditation matters
The Triple Crown brings significant advantages for JIBS students. A degree from JIBS now signals to employers worldwide that graduates have been trained to the highest international standards.
Beyond academic excellence, JIBS provides access to a powerful global network of alumni, companies, and partner universities, unlocking opportunities for jobs, internships, and entrepreneurship.
"The accreditations are important to us students. They strengthen our future opportunities and give JIBS graduates a clear competitive edge – whether they build their careers in Sweden or internationally," says Julia de Geus, President of the Jönköping Student Union (JSU) and former JIBS student.
Building the future on a strong foundation
Since achieving double accreditation in 2015, JIBS has consistently strengthened its reputation as an internationally oriented business school characterized by entrepreneurial spirit and strong industry connections. Securing Triple Crown status is the latest proof that JIBS isn’t just keeping pace with global developments — it’s actively leading the way.
"This shows that we have what it takes to compete with the very best — and that we’re just getting started," concludes Martin Wallin.
