Nerrolyn Ramstrand, professor at the Department of Rehabilitation, School of Health and Welfare, and her husband Simon Ramstrand, orthopaedic engineer, School of Health and Welfare, were invited to Sverigemiddagen.

On Friday, 17 October, The King and The Queen of Sweden hosted Sverigemiddagen (Sweden's Royal Dinner) at the Royal Palace. Sverigemiddagen was introduced in 2013 to mark The King's 40th anniversary on the throne and is held annually to honour individuals who have made significant contributions locally, regionally or nationally. One of the guests selected for this year's dinner was Nerrolyn Ramstrand, professor at the Department of Rehabilitation, School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University (JU).

Guests from all of Sweden's counties are invited to the formal dinner, including the country's County Governors. Ahead of the dinner, the County Governor in each county was tasked with proposing individuals who have had or continue to have a significant influence on the county's social development during The King's reign. The King then selected which of these individuals would be invited to the dinner.

The invitation confirms the importance of the work

Nerrolyn Ramstrand is delighted to have been selected for Sverigemiddagen.

"I am proud of the research that we are conducting to support people with disabilities who need prostheses and orthoses. This invitation confirms the important work we do, and I feel very honoured to have the opportunity to participate at the dinner," she says.

Approximately 180 guests were received and welcomed by The King, The Queen and Prince Carl Philip in the Lovisa Ulrika Dining Room on the Bernadotte Floor of the Royal Palace. While the guests made their way upstairs to the Banquet Hall, a serenade ensemble from the Royal Swedish Army Band played in the East Staircase. Among other pieces, the guests were treated to Charles Gounod's The Petite Symphonie.

The evening's dinner was composed by chefs Desirée Jaks, Viktor Westerlind and Michael Andersson, all of whom have won the Chef of the Year competition.

Nerrolyn Ramstrand sums it all up as a very enjoyable and well-organized event.
