TEDx event inspired participants to come up with new ideas

Jonathan Ljungqvist from Habo, who has been named Swedish champion in rhetoric, was one of the speakers at TEDxJönköping University.
About 40 students at Jönköping University (JU) organized the event TEDxJönköping University in Science Park Towers in Jönköping on 22 November. Under the theme "Redefining Limits" they wanted to show that borders are not obstacles, but starting points for new opportunities.

TEDxJönköping University was an event filled with ideas, knowledge and meetings. The purpose was to inspire the about 400 participants to think beyond the obvious and explore how we can challenge our own limits - both as individuals and as a society. The program featured talks by entrepreneurs, scientists, diplomats, adventurers and athletes – all with experience of pushing boundaries.
"The speakers really encouraged reflection"
"It was really nice and interesting to participate in TEDxJönköping University. The students had managed to engage fantastic speakers and it was a very well-organized event. The speakers really encouraged reflection and provided many, for me, new and challenging perspectives on important issues that many of us encounter in life and in our professions. I found that Petra Vlezeboer and how she challenges the "conventional" approach to working with mental health, addiction and depression really stood out," says Anna Gillek, Regional Manager of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise in Jönköping County.
This was JU's first TED event, which hopefully can be a catalyst for conversations about future opportunities and challenges. Among the speakers were Jonathan Ljungqvist from Habo, who is an adventurer and Swedish rhetoric champion, and Alexander Morad from Jönköping, JU alumnus and international lecturer on AI and entrepreneurship.
"I was moved to tears"
"I think this event was very insightful, with all the speakers really delivering. Two of the speakers moved me to tears, so it was really, really good. I really liked Jonathan's speech about having five friends and lifting each other up," says Alexander Morad.
About 40 JU students worked with TEDxJönköping University with the aim of creating a platform that unites JU's four faculties. They also aimed to invite inspiring world-class speakers, create meaningful networking opportunities and position JU as an intellectually progressive and globally connected institution.
Two hours of networking
"I think we succeeded on all counts. It was truly electric and deeply inspiring. The energy didn't fade when the speakers left the stage, but continued during the two-hour networking session afterwards. The participants stayed behind to ask questions, exchange contact details and discuss how the ideas presented could shape their future. , says Gábor Csaba Papp, project manager for TEDxJönköping University.
"Benefits for our member companies"
Anna Gillek believes that the event creates a creative and intellectually challenging meeting place where people from both academia and business can meet and find new opportunities and contacts.
"I believe that many of our member companies could benefit from participating on days like this. I am already looking forward to next time, says Anna Gillek.
