Full house when Magdalena Andersson visited JU

Magdalena Andersson gave a lecture on leadership at JU on February 18.
“Tell it like it is and do what needs to be done.”
With this approach, party leader, opposition leader, and former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (Swedish Social Democratic Party), took the stage in the packed JU auditorium at Jönköping University to talk about leadership, followed by a Q&A session.
For many years, Magdalena Andersson has held various leadership positions, not least in politics. As finance minister, party leader, and prime minister during the last term of office. For half an hour on 18 February, she shared her views on, and experience of, leadership. Among other things, she gave nine tips based on her own experiences.
"Leadership is an important part of life. Sooner or later, we all have a leadership role. The most important thing is to be grounded in what you want to do with your life, to know what values guide you. When you are grounded in that, many choices in life become easier, said Magdalena Andersson.
Magdalena also commented on what her impression is of Jönköping University.
“JU holds up very well in Swedish competition. It was great to see so many people here. But it is also an exciting place of learning, with specializations such as foundry engineering, as well as broad-based programmes,” she said.
After the half-hour lecture, there was also time for questions. Questions were asked about Magdalena's view of female entrepreneurship, how she handles leadership when she may not agree on an issue, but also about her view of AI in schools and the future of teachers. She believes that AI should be used as part of learning, a way of working, not cheating:
- I don't want a generation that grows up dumber than my own, Magdalena concludes.

The JU auditorium was packed during Magdalena Andersson's lecture. “It was great to see so many people here,” she said.
