Over 150 people were nominated, 22 made it to the finals, and three received awards. When the award ceremony for Young Female Leader of the Year (Årets unga ledande kvinna) was over, an alum from Jönköping University (JU) received a distinguished award.

“It was a huge surprise! There was good diversity in the list of 22 names, and it was really exciting," says Eveline Eskengren, Marketing Manager at Wettersol, who won the Emerging Board Talent of the Year award and holds both a Bahelor’s degree in Marketing Managmenet and a Master of Science in Business Administration from Jönköping International Business School at JU.

The Jönköping region has a relatively low proportion of women in leadership positions, which is why Young Female Leader of the Year is organized -to highlight role models who can inspire other women to become future leaders in Jönköping County. On Wednesday, 4 March, the formal ceremony was held in a packed hall at Science Park Towers in Jönköping, where the winners in the three categories were announced.

The winner of the Leadership Role Model of the Year award was Tina Jazic, Region Jönköping County, Entrepreneur of the Year was Klara Magnusson, TMT Design AB. And Eveline Eskengren, Wettersol, was named Future Board Talent of the Year.

A year of interesting experiences

JU alumna Eveline now has a year of interesting experiences ahead of her. Part of the prize is a seat on a company's board for a year, but also training at the Board Academy, which is a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

“It will be exciting. Taking the chance and understanding that your voice matters, and that you have something to offer, is really important,” she says.

Jönköping University works continuously to promote gender equality and supports Young Female Leader of the Year, which is run by Science Park, the Chamber of Commerce, and Region Jönköping County. The award provides an important opportunity to highlight young women in leadership roles and promote postive role models.

“We are both delighted and proud to be part of Young Female Leader of the Year. We congratulate everyone who has been nominated for this prestigious award. We are also delighted that several of the nominees and one of the winners are former students at JU”, says Eleonor Fransson, Deputy Executive Vice President at Jönköping University.
