New director to strengthen Jönköping University’s work on external relations and engagement

Anders Jonzon
Jönköping University (JU) is taking a step to further strengthen its collaboration with the wider community by creating a new senior role: Director of External Relations and Engagement. The new role will help to develop and coordinate work on external relations, fundraising, collaboration and alumni activities – areas that are central to the university’s long-term development and competitiveness.
The decision stems from an ambition to increase external funding whilst creating better conditions for strategic partnerships with industry, the public sector, organisations and alumni. Through this new role, responsibility for these matters will be consolidated in a clearer and more coordinated manner, strengthening Jönköping University’s ability to meet future opportunities and challenges.
“For Jönköping University to continue to develop and remain strong in the long term, we need to deepen our relationships with the wider world. This role is a key step in future-proofing JU by strengthening collaboration, increasing external funding and creating an even clearer engagement with our alumni and partners,” says Måns Svensson, President at Jönköping University.
The current Chief Communications Officer, Anders Jonzon, has accepted the new position. In his new role, he will have overall responsibility for further developing the university’s external engagement and relationships, with a focus on supporting the organization’s long-term goals and strategic direction.
The recruitment process for the Head of Communications will begin immediately. Anders Jonzon will take up his new role as Director of External Relations and Engagement once a Head of Communications has been appointed.
