Salem Seifeddine appointed Executive Vice President

Professor Salem Seifeddine, Associate Dean of Research at the School of Engineering at Jönköping University (JU), has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President at JU and will take up the post on 1 October 2023.

Salem Seifeddine received his doctorate in Engineering Materials from Linköping University in 2006. Salem is professor at the Department of Materials and Manufacturing and Associate Dean of Research at the School of Engineering at JU. Salem researches the relationship between microstructure and defect formation and mechanical properties of cast aluminium alloys.

On 14 June, the Foundation Governing Board, which is JU’s highest decision-making body, decided to appoint Salem Seifeddine as the President’s deputy from 1 October 2023. Salem will have the assignment as Executive Vice President at 100 percent. The Executive Vice President is the President’s deputy and acts in the President’s place when the President is not in office and otherwise replaces the President to the extent that the President decides.

His work within Horizon Europe, Swedish research councils, and industry organizations as well as knowledge and experience of business collaboration are some of the qualities that Salem will contribute to JU’s management and strategic collaborations,” says Agneta Marell, President at JU.

The current Executive Vice President, Mats Jackson, will leave the position after just over four years. Mats will return to the School of Engineering at JU where he is Professor of Innovative Production.
