Many visitors on campus for JU’s Open House
Approximately 1,000 people visited the Open House event at Jönköping University's (JU) campus on 19 March. There was also a live broadcast during the event where viewers could find out more about JU’s four schools, their educations and student life at JU. The live broadcast can now be seen on JU's Youtube channel.
Around 850 visitors took part in the Open House information sessions at Jönköping University's four schools - Jönköping International Business School, School of Education and Communication, School of Engineering and School of Health and Welfare. Many people also mingled with teachers and students in the schools’ entrance halls. Most visitors came from the Jönköping region, but there were also people from Norrland, Skåne and the west coast. The most distant participant was a prospective student from Barcelona.
"This really helped me"
Before coming to Open House, Alice Danielsson had been considering a few study alternatives, but as of Saturday, is very likely that she will now choose the Media and Communication Programme at the School of Education and Communication at JU.
“The information session about the programme presented everything in a very clear and structured way. This really helped me clarify things in my mind,” she said.
Sakariye Mohamed who likes IT and programming was interested in finding out more about the program Computer Engineering: Embedded Systems at the School of Engineering (JTH).
“It is a broad education and JTH seems to be a good school, so I hope to be admitted here,” he said.
"An exellent opportunity"
More than 200 employees and students at Jönköping University worked during Open House. Naveed Akhter, Associate Dean of Education at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), thinks that Open House is an excellent opportunity to experience the international feeling on JU’s campus.
“As a student here, you will meet people from all countries and cultures,” he says.
Patrik Cannmo, Associate Dean of Education at JTH, thought it was nice to have Open House on campus again.
“We had many good activities and HI TECH (JTH's student association) contributed to a good atmosphere at the school and showed what it is like to be a student here,” he says.
