Jönköping University condemns violence against students and researchers in Iran

The Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) has expressed its deep concern for the current situation for students and university employees in Iran. Jönköping University's president, Agneta Marell, supports SUHF's statement regarding the violence in Iran.

In the statement from SUHF:

”SUHF is strongly committed to democratic and human rights including the right to free expression and non-violent protests. Current violations of these rights for university students and staff in Iran are deeply concerning."

Jönköping University (JU) agrees with SUHF's worry and condemns the violence against students and researchers in Iran.

"Academic freedom and human rights are the foundations of democratic and sustainable societies. I am deeply concerned about the inhumane and unacceptable treatment of students in Iran," says Agneta Marell, President of JU and chairman of SUHF's expert group for internationalization issues.
